What We Do:
Children who come to Open Hand Ranch will partner with trained volunteers for 90 minute sessions, taking part in chores, horse activities, games and crafts. A parent or guardian must stay at the ranch for the entire session time. Children must wear shoes that are completely enclosed. Helmets for riding will be provided by the ranch.
There is no charge for the program and the only requirement is that the child wants to take part.
Chores may include cleaning out corrals, cleaning tack, landscaping or gardening activities.
Horse activities may include grooming, horsemanship training, playing and riding, depending on the skill and interest of the child. We encourage the children to get to know our horses and their stories. Caring for an animal is often the first step in healing and learning healthy relationship skills.
Games and crafts give the children an opportunity to interact with other children and volunteers, and to enjoy just being a kid.
Most importantly, children will be shown the love of Jesus by mentors who are committed to following Him.

Who We Are
Mission Statement: Open Hand Ranch is a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization which seeks to encourage reconciliation between cultures, individuals, and God by mentoring children in relationship and life skills using natural horsemanship principles to redeem rescued horses.
Our Values:
Mankind: God created all people in His image, therefore, all people have inherent value.
Genesis.. 1:27
Purpose: God tasked mankind with stewardship of His creation. Man's original purpose is to reveal God's glory in and through his care for creation. Genesis 1:28
Culture: God is the instigator of culture and reveals Himself to us in the context of culture. Understanding different cultures can give us a fuller understanding of God's character. Genesis 10
Children: Children are the channel through which culture passes from one generation to the next. Relational and life skills are learned within intergenerational relationships. God's heart for children is evident in Jesus's call to "Let the little children come to me" Dueteronomy 11:18-19
Horses: We believe the practice of natural horsemanship principles respects God's design for both humans and horses. Humans, being the image bearers of God, must approach the horse within the context of the horse's understanding, experience and make up. Redeeming the horse is the process by which we bring the horse into right relationship with the human. Genesis 1:28
Reconciliation: God showed His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8. We are called to the ministry of reconciling people to each other and to God. Building healthy relationships involves reconciling our differences in a way that honors each other and God.
All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
What We Believe
Statement of Faith: We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God as written in the original texts. We believe that there is one God who exists in three distinct persons. We believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and all that exists. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and that He became flesh through the virgin birth. We believe that all have sinned and fall short of God's glorious purpose for us. We believe that the death of Jesus Christ is sufficient to atone for the sin of all, and that all who trust in His work of redemption will be saved and called into relationship with God. We believe that Jesus Christ was raised on the third day after his death, thereby verifying His position as Messiah and Lord. We believe that He will return to judge the living and the dead, and to live in eternal relationship with those who have accepted Him as Lord.
